Jo’Ann began studying astrology at five years old with her mother teaching her to read using the newspaper horoscopes and Sun sign astrology books instead of Dick and Jane. Her formal training began at sixteen and continued until she reached her Western Karmic and Evolutionary Astrology certification from the Institute of Astrology and Metaphysics in New York in 1991 with Dorothy Santangelo. She wrote weekly horoscopes for Viacom cable in New York and is one of the featured astrologers in the book “Psychic New York” by Pat Collins. She wrote a political astrology column called “In Their Stars” for the Long Island Voice profiling local politicians through their astrological charts. In 1997 she did a twelve month astrology lecture series called Sign of the Month, which was offered in five Borders Book stores throughout the New York area, as well as in Tucson, Arizona. In 1998 she taught Astrology classes for Suffolk Community College. She was the co-host and producer on Dancing On the Path with Bruce Silvey on KXCI , community radio in Tucson in 1999 through 2000. In 2002 and 2003 she was the featured astrologer on the Morning Madhouse with Darren Stone and Wayne Coy on 104.1 the Point, Tucson . Her private practice began twenty years ago and continues to be her source of joy to help others achieve healing and self actualization. She continues to teach, lecture and live astrology in Tucson, Arizona. She has been married to Mark Ruhl for twenty eight years and has five amazing sons.
